I-595 was officially floated by NCDOT no later than Sept 2016 to be assigned to the US 264 freeway from I-95 to Greenville. My guess is this was if for some reason I-87 was not approved.
I-87 was approved by AASHTO, so NCDOT went ahead with a plan to have US 264 from US 64 (future I-87) Zebulon to Greenville numbered as I-587 instead. |
