The Road: Begins at US 21 near Charlotte (Mecklenburg County) and ends at US 421 Bus, NC 18-268 North Wilkesboro (Wilkes County).
Towns and Attractions: Mecklenburg Co: Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson
Iredell Co: Mooresville, Troutman, Statesville
Wilkes Co: North Wilkesboro
History: NC 115 appeared in 1930 as new primary routing, running from US 21-70/NC 10-26-90 (now US 21-64) Statesville north to the Wilkes-Iredell Line.
In 1932 or 1933, NC 115 was extended north to US 421/NC 60 (now just Old US 421) near Wilkesboro.

In 1941, NC 115 was extended north to North Wilkesboro, ending at US 421/NC 16 (jct of D St and 10th).

About 1956, NC 115 was extended south with US 21 to about Shepherds, then replaced US 21 through Mooresville, Davidson and Huntersville and ending where it does today.

It appears between 1969-82, NC 115 north was truncated to its current end at US 421 Bus/NC 18-268.

Comment: NC 115 south of Statesville is pretty much a business route for US 21. It is curious why this wasn't renumbered as US 21-A at the time.
