History: NC 175 appeared in June 1967 (NCDOT) as a renumbering of NC 135! Likely this was a typo when first put into the system but had the force of legal status which had to be formally undone. It's original north end was today's SR 1353 (was US 64).

In 1930, NC 175 was renumbered as NC 181 from Newland to Linville and US 221/NC 691 from Linville to Blowing Rock.
