NC 761: Appeared as new primary routing about 1935, running from US 76 Fair Bluff to US 701 Tabor City. It is unclear whether NC 761 was extended east to South Carolina before it was renumbered as NC 904 in late 1937.
Today it is still NC 904 except from Tabor City to the state line is part of US 701 Business.
Although the strict system of numbering routes stopped being followed after the Great Renumbering, a few routes got the treatment in 1934-1936, such as NC 761 which was off US 76.
