The Roads:

The 1st US 258 Business was created in 1961 as an addition to US 70 Business through Kinston. Vernon St had never been part of US 258 previously while Queen St was.
US 258 Bus was removed in March 2023 (NCDOT). Vernon Ave became SR 1295, while Queen St remains NC 58.

The 2nd US 258 Business was created Nov 2009 (NCDOT) as a renumbering of US 258 through Farmville.
US 258 Bus was removed in March 2024 (NCDOT). Main St became SR 1349, Wilson st became SR 1347, and May Blvd became SR 1348.
