The Roads:

The 1st US 441 Business was created in March 1973 (NCDOT) replacing mainline US 441 through Franklin.
In May 1973 (NCDOT), US 441 Business was put on one-way splits in Franklin. SB used the original route along Main St and Porter St. NB was placed on Palmer St.

The 2nd US 441 Business was created Jan 1988 (NCDOT) as new construction southeast of Cherokee and as an addition to US 19. This was never part of mainline US 441.
