 Creation: SC 124 appeared 1968 or 1969 as a renumbering of all of US 123 ALT and part of US 123, running as it does now. This is the 2nd SC 124.

Adjustments: In January 2026 (SCDOT), SC 124 east was truncated to Alice Ave, just past US 25. This left behind Pendleton St and Main St.
Improvements: Paved upon designation; multilane from US 123 to SC 81
Comment: SC 124 is the original route from Greenville west toward Easley and beyond and was SC 2.
SC 124 is shown on the 2011 Greenville map to end at SC 81 (which also ended at SC 124) but the Jul 2023 GMSV still shows it posted to SC 20.
