Creation: SC 184 appeared by 1926 as new primary routing, running from SC 18 (now S-1-167 Gin House Rd) Antreville west to the Anderson County line. This is the only SC 184.
| Adjustments: By 1929, SC 184 was extended west as new primary routing to SC 82 (now SC 81) Iva. In July 1936 (SCDOT), SC 184 was extended southwest as new primary routing to the Georgia State Line. In 1940, SC 184 was extended southeast with SC 28 then east as new primary routing to SC 20-185 Due West.
In 1947, SC 184 east was truncated back to Antreville leaving behind S-1-22 and S-1-28. In 1950, SC 184 was re-extended to SC 20-185 Due West. In 1956, SC 184 was extended east replacing SC 20 from Due West to end at US 178 Donalds. In 1971, SC 184 was extended east as an upgrade to S-1-19 to end at SC 252 near Ware Shoals. This had once been SC 256.
