Creation: SC 191 appeared in July 1936 (SCDOT) as new primary routing, running from SC 19 Eureka to 2.2 miles short of Johnston. This is the only SC 191.
Adjustments: In June 1937 (SCDOT), SC 191 was extended north to SC 19 (now SC 121) Johnston.
In 1942, SC 191 was extended south with SC 19 a ways, then southwest as new primary routing through Vaucluse and Graniteville before ending at US 1-78 (now SC 421) Warrenville.
Between 1952-56, SC 191 was rerouted through Graniteville to use Canal St all the way. Before, it used Main St.

Improvements: SC 191 was paved from SC 19 to Johnston in 1941.
In 1942, SC 191 was paved from Warrenville to Vaucluse.
In 1952, SC 191 was paved from Vaucluse to SC 19.
SC 191 has no multilane segments.
Comment: SC 191 is blown off by I-20, though it does meet SC 19 near its exit with the interstate.
Until SC 19 was renumbered to SC 121, SC 191 formed a 2-mile shorter route for SC 19 between Eureka and Johnston.
