ROUTE LOG
I-85 (exit 102), SC 5: 0 - 0
NC STATE LINE: 2.6 - 2.6
Creation: SC 198 appeared in 1940 as new primary routing, running from US 29/SC 5 Blacksburg north to the North Carolina line. This is the only SC 198.
Adjustments: In 1941, SC 198 was largely rebuilt. The original route used a combination of S-11-620 Jones St/Seven Springs St in Blacksburg; Phelps Rd just below I-85; Rock Springs Rd/Marie Rd just above I-85; S-11-65 at the North Carolina line - SC 198 ended at S-11-65's first brush with the state line.
In 2003 (bridge date), SC 198 was removed from S-11-127 Mountain St in Blacksburg and placed on new construction to meet US 29 at its SC 5 east split.
Between May 2008 and Oct 2009 (GMSV), SC 198 was renumbered as part of SC 5 south of I-85.
