Creation: Created in 1937 as a renumbering of part of SC 93 to match NC 200. Originally only ran the 7 miles from US 521 Lancaster to the state line.
Adjustments: In 1951 or 1952, SC 200 was extended south to its current end in Winnsboro. This replaced: SC 93 from Lancaster to Great Falls and SC 22 from Great Falls to Winnsboro
Improvements: SC 200 was fully paved since its beginning; no multilane sections shown on 2005 Official Map.
Comment: SC 200 is a pretty long route that really doesn't serve a major traffic movement.
SC 201
From: SC 20 north of Abbeville (Abbeville County)
To: SC 284 just inside Anderson County.
Total Length: 13 miles

Creation: Created in 1939 as new primary routing. Originally only ran from SC 20 to today's SC 184.
Adjustments: In 1940, SC 201 was extended northwest to today's SC 284, then northeast to end at SC 185 Saylors Crossroads. This made SC 201 18 miles long.
in 1941 or 1942, SC 201 was rerouted at SC 284 to continue northwest to SC 185. Also, SC 201 was extended south along SC 20 to Abbeville, then southeast to near the Edgefield County Line, for a total length of 27 miles.
In 1948, SC 201 was truncated to its current length, replaced by S-4-41 north of SC 284, and S-1-33 south of Abbeville.
Improvements: SC 201 was fully paved between 1943-48; no multilane sections shown on 2005 Official Map.
Comment: SC 201 can be used (with SC 185 S-4-41, and SC 20) as a backdoor route from Abbeville to Anderson
SC 202
From: US 76 Little Mountain (Newberry County)
To: US 176 Pomaria (Newberry County).
Total Length: 4.6 miles

Creation: Resurrected as a state route in 1949, running as it does now.
Adjustments: SC 202 first appeared in 1939, running the way it does now.
In 1940, SC 202 was extended south to SC 205 (current S-36-26) near Dreher Island. This brought SC 202 to a length of 11 miles.
In 1948, SC 202 was completely downgraded to secondary status. South of US 76 was definitely S-36-20.
Improvements: SC 202 between Little Mtn. and Pomaria was paved in 1940; no multilane sections shown on 2005 Official Map.
Comment: SC 202 is rather short, but does connect I-26 with two small towns.

 
 
SC 203
From: SC 20 Abbeville (Abbeville County)
To: SC 185 west of Hodges (Abbeville County).

Creation: Created in 1940 as new primary routing. Originally ran from SC 7 (current S-1-133) Abbeville to SC 185.
Adjustments: SC 203 was extended west to SC 20 between 1960-64, replacing part of SC 72.
Improvements: SC 203 was fully paved between 1943-48; no multilane sections shown on 2005 Official Map.
Comment: SC 203's routing/ending in Abbeville is a mystery to me, as when I drove through Abbeville in the late 80's, no SC routes besides SC 203 were posted in the town.

 
 
SC 204  not currently assigned
Previous SC 204's: SC 204: Appeared in 1940 as new primary routing. Ran from US 78 at the Orangeburg-Dorchester Line in a south loop back to US 78 Reevesville, then continued to US 178/SC 2 at the Orangeburg-Dorchester Line, then jogged east a mile before heading north to end at SC 152 (current S-18-11 near its I-95 overpass). SC 204 was 14 miles long.
In 1948, SC 204 became S-18-18, some of S-18-16, and S-18-20.

 
 
SC 205  not currently assigned
Previous SC 205's: SC 205: Appeared in 1940 as new routing. Ran from US 76, SC 2 Chapin west 7 miles to SC 202 (current S-36-20).
In 1941 or 1942, SC 205 was extended west 8 more miles to SC 391 Prosperity. Also, SC 205 was extended 3 miles east from Chapin to the Richland County Line
In 1948, SC 205 was downgraded to part of S-36-26, S-36-15, S-32-231, part of S-32-29, and S-32-48.
SC 206  not currently assigned
Previous SC 206's: SC 206: Appeared in 1940 as new routing. Ran from SC 525 (current S-10-13) Charleston Heights (current N. Charleston) northeast 2 miles to Yeamans Hall Plantation in Hanahan.
In 1948, SC 206 was downgraded to S-8-24. SC 206 only had a few feet (if that much) in Charleston County, so I don't think any S-10-xx route was assigned.

 
 
SC 207

To: North Carolina State Line above Dudley(Chesterfield County). NC 207 continues to NC 200 Monroe, NC

Creation: Resurrected as a state highway in 1949, running the way it does now.
Adjustments: SC 207 originally was created in 1940, running the way it does now.
In 1941 or 1942, SC 207 was extended southeast to SC 151. It is unclear on today's maps how SC 207 did this.
In 1948, SC 207 was downgraded to secondary status for a year...
Improvements: Fully paved in 1949
No multilane sections
Comment: SC 207 offers a longer alternative to US 601 from Pageland to Monroe, NC.

 
 
SC 208  not currently assigned
Previous SC 208's: SC 208: Appeared in 1941 or 1942 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 204 (current S-18-18) near the Cattle Creek Bridge west to the Orangeburg County Line.
In 1948, the 4 miles of SC 208 were downgraded to S-18-32.
SC 209  not currently assigned
Previous SC 209's: SC 209: Appeared in 1941 or 1942 as new paved primary routing. Ran as a 3 mile spur from US 21 Lobeco to Dale.
In 1948, SC 209 was downgraded to S-7-38.
