Creation: SC 341 appeared in 1923 as new primary routing, running from SC 3 (now likely S-31-24 Magnolia St) Lynchburg via Elliott to SC 34 Bishopville. This is the only SC 341.
Adjustments: In 1925 or 1926, SC 341 was extended east as new primary routing through Olanta and Lake City before ending at SC 51-411 (now SC 41-51) Johnsonville.

In 1928, SC 341 was extended northwest as new primary routing through Bethune to end at SC 26 (now US 521 bus) Kershaw.
In 1936 or 1937, SC 341 was rerouted away from Elliott onto its current corridor through Lynchburg. The old road to Elliott became SC 341 ALT (now SC 527) and SC 763 (now US 401).
In Aug 1936 (SCDOT), SC 341 was given its current bypass of central Olanta, leaving behind another SC 341 ALT (now S-21-73/S-21-37 Main St and S-21-19 Magnolia Ave).
Also in 1940, SC 341 was extended north from Kershaw as new primary routing to end at SC 9 (now SC 903).
In 1947, SC 341 west was truncated back to US 521 Kershaw, leaving behind S-29-26.

Improvements: The first piece of SC 341 to be paved was US 76 east to the Sumter County line, in 1934 or 1935.
In 1938, SC 341 was paved from Kershaw to Bethune; Bishopville to Sumter Line; Lake City to Johnsonville.
In 1940, SC 341 from the Sumter Line to Olanta was paved.
In 1942, SC 341 was paved from Olanta to Lake City, completing the pavement from Kershaw to Johnsonville.
There are no multilane sections on SC 341 despite its length and passing through some county seats.
Comment: SC 341 is remarkably unchanged on its alignments despite its age.
There is a well-signed SC 341 TRUCK in Kershaw which begins at the SC 157 jct and heads north on S-29-31 Minor St, west on US 601 to US 521 Bus, and is also signed to continue along S-29-62 Hinton St to US 521 Bypass. This has been there since at least 2007.
