Creation: SC 362 appeared in 1939 as new primary routing, running from US 78 Bamberg southeast about 11 miles. This is the only SC 362.
Adjustments: In 1940, SC 362 was extended south as new primary routing to SC 217 near Padgett.
In 1942, SC 362 was extended east with SC 217 into Colleton County, then south as new primary routing to SC 212 Williams.

Between 1941-51, SC 362 was removed from Turkey Cut Rd/S-5-118 Short Cut Rd/S-5-304 Bull Bay Rd in southern Bamberg County.
Sometime after 1943 and as early as 1950, SC 362's south end in Williams was moved off Lumber Rd (now S-15-80) and onto Joel Padgett St.
