Creation: SC 395 appeared in 1939 as new primary routing, running from SC 391 near the Saluda River northwest for about 9 miles. This is the only SC 395.
Adjustments: In 1940, SC 395 was extended north as new routing to end at SC 19-22 (now S-36-90 Boundary St) Newberry.
In 1947, SC 395 was downgraded to S-36-17 and S-36-18 (now S-36-42).
In 1950, SC 395 reappeared with its north end again at SC 19-34 (S-36-90 Boundary St), but instead headed due south to end at SC 194 in Saluda County as it does today. This was a replacement for mostly S-36-41, S-36-46, and S-41-32 (this Saluda County road had been SC 372 prior to 1947).
