Creation: SC 395 appeared in 1939 as new primary routing, running from SC 391 near the Saluda River northwest for about 9 miles. This is the only SC 395.
Adjustments: In 1940, SC 395 was extended north as new routing to end at SC 19-22 (now S-36-90 Boundary St) Newberry.
In 1947, SC 395 was downgraded to S-36-17 and S-36-18 (now S-36-42).
In 1950, SC 395 reappeared with its north end again at SC 19-34 (S-36-90 Boundary St), but instead headed due south to end at SC 194 in Saluda County as it does today. This was a replacement for mostly S-36-41, S-36-46, and S-41-32 (this Saluda County road had been SC 372 prior to 1947).

About 1975, SC 395 was moved from Caldwell St onto newly constructed Nance Ave which was extended north over S-36-103 through Newberry to end at SC 121.

SC 395 was fully paved upon returning in 1950.
SC 395 was multilaned from SC 34 Bypass north to SC 121 in 1975.
Comment: SC 395 serves as a backdoor route from Saluda to Newberry.
