SC 409 Appeared in 1942 as new primary routing, running from SC 246 northeast across Lake Greenwood to SC 225 (now S-30-29) Isle of Pines. This had been part of SC 10 until 1935 or 1936.
In 1945, SC 409 was extended south over more of the old SC 10 to end at US 221/SC 72 (now SC 72 Bus) Greenwood.
In 1947, SC 409 was downgraded to S-24-39, S-24-28 (now S-24-39), and S-30-33.
