1948 ROUTE LOG
US 501: 0 - 0
US 501: 11.9 - 11.9
SC 503: Appeared in 1940 as new primary routing, running from US 501-501 ALT (now S-26-15) Myrtle Beach northwest through Pine Island and ending at US 501 (now SC 544) south of Conway.
In 1949, SC 503 was replaced by a rerouted US 501. However, most of US 501 west of the Intracoastal Waterway was new construction and SC 503 hugged the southside of the railroad. SC 503 used Cox Ferry Rd from today's SC 544 to US 501; from there to Gardener Lacy Rd is no longer a road of any kind; Conbraco Rd; dirt road that may not be driveable down to about the SC 31 overpass; Ronald McNair Blvd; Christa McAuliffe St; undrivable dirt road south of and parallel to the railroad until it gets back to US 501 at the Intracoastal Waterway.
