SC 552: Appeared in 1942 as new primary routing in 2 pieces:
1. US 1 and SC 43 (now US 378) Lexington northwest to just short of the south Lake Murray shoreline (ended 0.3 miles past S-32-112 near Harbor Heights Dr).
2. From near the north shoreline of Lake Murray (just south of S-32-1175 Green Meadow Dr) north through Chapin to end at today's S-32-945.
It is possible that SC 552 piece 2 was extended north to the Newberry County line after 1942.
In 1947, SC 552 piece 1 was downgraded to S-32-52. Piece 2 became S-32-51 south of Chapin and S-32-49 north of Chapin.
This route didn't make much sense...the two segments of SC 552 didn't line up across from one another at Lake Murray.
