Creation: Appeared in 1948 running from US 64 Savannah south to the Pickwick Dam.
Adjustments: In 1961 or 1962, TN 128 was extended northeast to TN 114 (now Main St) Clifton. Also, TN 128 was removed from Wharf Rd near the Pickwick Dam and instead extended across the dam to end at TN 57.
In 1983, TN 128 was extended east to end at TN 13 east of Leatherwood. In 1987 or 1988, TN 128 was rerouted east of Clifton to instead head north and northeast to TN 13 near Bethel. This was a route swap with TN 228. Between 1998-2001, TN 128 was rerouted in Savannah to use Water St east to Hanna Blvd north. The original route used US 64 Main St. About 2001, TN 128 was given brand new routing from Savannah to Clifton by heading east with US 64 for 5 miles then northeast as brand new construction up to Clifton Rd east of Swift, then straighter alignments north and esat to Clifton. The old route used Alabama St/Cumberland St/Cravens Dr in Savannah; Clifton Rd through Cerro Gordo and Swift to modern 128; Ackes Ln; Sparrow Loop; Streaming Water Loop; also bypassed was Old Hwy 128/Old Savannah Hwy just west of Clifton.
