 Creation: Appeared in 1983 running essentially as it does today. The part with US 45 Bypass was a renumbering of TN 5 Byp.
Adjustments: In 1992, TN 186 was removed from Three Way Lane at the US 45E-W split in Three Way and put on the new interchange alignments in the area.

Comment: Can be used as a bypass of Humboldt for US 45W between Jackson and Trenton.
TN 186 is being extended south on new construction to bypass more of Jackson and will meet back up with US 45/TN 5 at the area where TN 18 comes in. ROW starts in 2021 per TDOT Website.
I think it is odd that the Jackson Bypass is TN 186 instead of either TN 43 or even TN 18.
