Blown-off by I-65 until an interchange opened ca. 1989. The road was widened to 5 lanes from US 31 to I-65 around this time.
The 5-lane widening extended to just east of TN 252 in the late 1990s.
East of I-65, the route passes by the historic WSM-AM radio tower and multi-million dollar homes in the Governor�s Club golf club and gated community.
