Creation: Appeared in 1983 running generally as it does now.
Adjustments: Around 1992, TN 305 was removed from Clearwater Rd out of Athens and placed on Mt. Verd Rd through the existing I-75 interchange northwest to Clearwater Rd.
About 1998, TN 305 was placed on newly constructed alignments from TN 68 south to Clearwater Rd. In McMinn County the old route is Floyd Simpson Rd and in Meigs County is was removed from Old Clearwater Rd.
