TN 516?: The Wikipedia list of Tennessee State Highways shows a TN 516 which as being assigned to the corridor that much later became I-440 in Nashville. This comes from a mention in a June 2013 newspaper article which indicated TN 516 was assigned in 1955 for the corridor that I-440 eventually occupied.
However, the 1974 EIS for I-440 describes it a little differently as shown in the screen shot below, which reads to me as if the 516 number was a FHWA designation, like a list of segments approved, and not a state highway designation.  How the number 516 is associated with I-440 1974 I-440 EIS |
