Southern Terminus
The busy I-95 corridor as it crosses into North Carolina south of Emporia. Long-range proposals call for 6-laning this portion of I-95, but neither VDOT nor NCDOT have the money to do so. Photo by Adam Froehlig, taken August 12, 2003. |
Northern Terminus
This is where I-95/495 actually crosses the state line, just on the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge leaving Alexandria, which I-95 has used to enter Maryland since 1977. Photo by Adam Froehlig, taken December 6, 2008. | |

Former Northern Terminus
Up until 1977, I-95 left Virginia heading directly into Washington DC. This is looking Virginia-bound on the pedestrian path alongside the southbound I-395/US 1 lanes across the Potomac River. Photo by Adam Froehlig, taken November 10, 2002. |
