Southern Terminus

 With the construction of the new bridge over the Elizabeth River on US 17, VA 166 had to be rerouted to meet US 17 a fair bit north of the old drawbridge. This is the view leaving the new US 17 interchange. The posting is a little misleading because this was taken before the road was closed at the drawbridge and US 17 was actually detoured onto the VA 166 approach to the drawbridge area. This is the view of current VA 166 tying back into the older VA 166 routing just west of the US 17 interchange. This is the intersection you are approaching in the above photo from a different angle, and was the operational end of VA 166 once US 17's detour was set up. Former Southern Terminus (1965-2015)

 VA 166 is one of the many urban routes in the Hampton Roads area.  Here it ends at US 17, formerly VA 104. VA 166 ended here from 1965-2015.   Photo by Adam Froehlig, taken February 23, 2003.
