Creation: WV 243 was designated in summer 2024, running the way it does now. This had been CR 32. This is the only WV 251.

Improvements: Upon designation, WV 243 was fully paved; multilane from I-81 to US 11.
Comment: It is illegal for trucks to turn right from WV 243 to CR 30 to reach nearby WV 45, which might be why it ends at CR 30 (several WV sources have the endpoint there)
