The road:
NC 159 SPUR: Born in 1977 as a renumbering of part of NC 159, running as it does now.
The route connects NC 159 to the NC Zoological Park.
I haven't been there in a while, but from at least 1990-2002 it was posted with a single 159 shield with no banner.
NC 159 SPUR wasn't labeled on official maps until 2007 but has been labeled on county maps back to at least 1980.
