NC 272 #1: Appeared in 1930 as new primary routing, from NC 29 (current NC 7) McAdenville northeast to NC 273 Mount Holly. This shows on both the 1930 Official and the 1930 Gaston County Map. THis was decommisioned in 1931 and is today SR 2000 and SR 2040.
NC 272 #2: Appeared in mid-1931 as new primary routing, from NC 273 (now SR 2093) near Belmont northwest to end at NC 275 Stanley. NC 272 last appeared on the 1935 Official and was gone on the 1936 Official. Today it is SR 2000 and SR 2021.
