NC 289: Appeared in 1930 as new primary routing, from NC 284 (now SR , very near the I-40 and US 276 jct) Cove Creek over to NC 209 Cove.
The last official map to show NC 289 was 1939. After that it became SR 1334 Whiteoak Rd.
Old NC 289 hugs I-40 very closely (possibly altered by it?) and is the road that Exit 15 serves.
