NC 292: Appeared in 1931 as upgraded routing, from NC 289 (now SR 1338) Fines Creek north to Max Patch Mtn and to the Tennessee Line at Lemon Gap. The route briefly dipped in and out of Tennessee at Max Patch Mtn.
The last official map to show NC 292 was the 1939 issue. Since then it has been SR 1334 Patch Rd (Haywood County) and SR 1182 Max Patch Rd (Madison County).
Today the north end of old NC 292 connects to TN 107.
