N.C. 346  dead
Formerly:
NC 346: Appears to have existed at most 1929-30. May have begun as the bridge from NC 345 over Roanoke Sound to Whalebone. Later in 1930 NC 346 was extended up through Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills.
When the bridge across Currituck Sound opened in 1930 or 1931, NC 346 was renumbered as NC 344. Today this would be US 158 across Currituck Sound; NC 12 south to Whalebone and US 64 west to NC 345.
I have only a 1930 Dare County map that shows 346 labeled. This could be a typo of 344. However, Steffora noted in his US 158 page that NC 346 was on the Outer Banks, which means he must have had a map that showed it, too.
Anyone who has NC 346 on a map...please contact me!
