N.C. 771  dead
Formerly: There have been two NC 771's...

NC 771 #1: Appeared as new primary routing about 1930, running from its parent NC 77, US 311 (just High Point Rd today) east of Winston Salem northeast to US 421/NC 60 (current NC 66) Kernersville. In 1936, NC 771 was renumbered as a much extended NC 703, and later the even longer NC 150. Today, it is just mostly Kernersville Rd. and Main St in Kernersville. However, three separate Old Winston Rd segments are probably old alignments of NC 771.

NC 771 #2: Appeared as new primary routing about 1936, running from US 74 Hamlet south to the South Carolina line, where it continued as SC 96. In 1937, both sides decided this should be numbered as 38, which it remains today.
