U.S. 17-W  Virginia said no
Formerly:

US 17W: Appeared in a Feb 3, 1926 letter from AASHO to Virginia as a suggested renumbering for the 1925 plan's US 15 which ran from Wilmington to Petersburg VA via Goldsboro, Rocky Mount and Weldon. The designation US 13-A had been proposed by AASHO first.
Virginia was adamant that the US designation for this corridor would not be a suffixed route or "suboardinated" in any way.
A March 13, 1926 letter from AASHO indicated that US 17W would not be replacing US 15 after all.
Though when the official US route system debuted in late 1926, US 17-1 was actually assigned to the corridor. This is the US 117 and US 301 corridors today.
I have not yet seen a map with US 17W on it.
