VA 526 #1: Appeared in August 1929 as new primary routing, running from US 13/VA 34 (now VA 181) Belle Haven Station to US 13/VA 34 (now VA 178) Exmore. This was shown but not labeled on 1930 Official maps.
About 1930, US 13/VA 34 was moved to this corridor, replacing all of VA 526. VA 526 #2: Appeared in Dec 1930 (CTB), running from Exmore to Belle Haven. This had been part of US 13/VA 34. It appears that VA 526 extended to the north CL of Belle Haven at this time. I have no map that show this explicitly but the 1931 VDOT Route Log describes VA 526 as "Belle Haven to Exmore" By 1932, VA 526 was rerouted to stay in Accomac County, heading east to US 13/VA 34 at Belle Haven Station, in a route swap with VA 522. In July 1933, VA 526 was renumbered as VA 181.
