SC 62 #1: Created in 1923 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 6 (now S-10-1024 Old Charleston Hwy) Red Top northeast to SC 61 near Drayton Hall.
In 1936, SC 62 was removed from the primary system by Act of SC Legislature and is now a little US 17 plus S-10-57 Bees Ferry Rd.
This route was one of the first primary routes to be permanently downgraded.
SC 62 #2: Appeared in 1940 as a new primary route running from US 76/SC 2 near Ballentine south through Irmo and curling southeast to end at the Richland-Lexington line at St. Andrews.
In 1947, SC 62 was downgraded to S-40-27; S-32-42; S-32-36. As best I can tell it never did connect with today's US 176.
