Creation: SC 153 appeared in 1974 as new construction, running from US 123 south to possibly just SC 81. This is the 2nd SC 153.
Adjustments: In 1975, SC 153 was extended south to I-85/US 29 mostly as new construction but replaced a little S-4-183. The 1975 Anderson County map shows this but state officials don't acknowledge it until 1977.
In 2001, SC 153 was extended southeast as mainly new construction to I-185.
