In 1948, SC 180 was downgraded to S-11-32. Today, most of SC 180 is part of SC 329.
SC 181

Creation: Appeared in 1942 as a renumbering of part of SC 81. This is the 2nd SC 181.
Adjustments: None
Improvements: SC 181 was paved upon designation; no multilane sections shown on 2005 Official Map.
Comment: SC 181's original east end was SC 81 and SC 82 - all three routes ended at the intersection.
SC 181 serves as a backdoor route from Anderson to Hartwell, GA.
Previous SC 181's: SC 181 #1: Appeared in 1923 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 2 (current SC 59-130 jct) Seneca south to SC 18 (current SC 24) Tokeena Crossroads.

SC 59, SC 243: 0 - 0
SC 24: 9.6 - 9.6
Creation: Created as new primary routing in 1925 or 1926. Ran as it does today, plus extended southwest into Georgia to meet GA 59.
Adjustments: SC 182 south was truncated to Fair Play in 1942, replaced by SC 59. Today that portion below I-85 is S-37-11.
Improvements: SC 182's current routing was paved in 1941 or 1942; no multilane sections on the 2005 Official Map
Comment: SC 182 is very non-direct in its path between SC 59 and SC 24. SC 182 comes within a whisker of touching SC 11, but they do not technically intersect.

Creation: Created in 1928 as a renumbering of part of original SC 18. Originally ran only from SC 13-18 (current US 76-123) Westminster to SC 2 (current SC 28) Walhalla.
Adjustments:SC 183 was extended east as new routing to Pickens by 1930.
In 1931, SC 183 was extended northeast to end at SC 284 (current US 276) Marietta.
In 1937 or 1938, SC 183 was rerouted at Pickens to go north to US 276 below Caesars Head. The old route to Marietta went unnumbered for a time but is now SC 186.
In 1939, SC 183 was extended west from Westminster after a brief US 76 multiplex over to Madison, then west to Georgia where current GA 184 EB ends.
In 1948, SC 183 west was truncated back to Westminster, leaving behind S-37-34 and S-37-160.
In 1956, SC 183 was rerouted at Pickens to head due east to Greenville, ending at US 25-29 Main St. (current SC 20). This rerouting replaced all of SC 416.
Between 1960-64, SC 183 was extended east to its current end, as US 29 was moved from Main St to Church St.
Between 1968-70, SC 183 was rerouted due to the formation of Lake Keowee. Portions of old SC 183 are not underwater: last 0.2 mile of SC 188, S-37-12, and S-37-15. During this time SC 183 was also TEMP SC 11.
Improvements: SC 183 was paved between Walhalla and Westminster by 1932.
In 1933, SC 183 was paved from Pickens west to the Seneca River Bridge.
In 1937 or 1938, SC 183 was paved 5 miles east out of Pickens and from Walhalla to SC 134 (this is now the east end of S-37-12 I believe).
In 1939, SC 183 was paved from Westminster to Pumpkintown.
In 1941 or 1942, SC 183 was paved from Pumpkintown north to US 276.
All parts of SC 183 have been paved since 1948.
Between 1960-64, SC 183 was 4-laned from just west of today's SC 253 into central Greenville.
Between 1968-70, the 4-laning was extended west to US 25.
In 1971 or 1972, the 4-laning was extended a little futher west of US 25.
SC 183 might be multilane within the town of Pickens.
Comment: SC 183 serves the Oconee Nuclear Station, as well as provides a route across central Oconee and Pickens Counties.
The old SC 183 at the Georgia State Line passed by (or even over) one of South Carolina's few covered bridges to make it to modern times.
