SC 226: Appeared in 1940 as new primary routing from US 21 (now US 321) White Oak east to SC 34 (now SC 200). The western 0.3 miles of this were likely the original SC 16 at some point and possibly US 21 too.
Between 1943-46, SC 226 was extended east as new routing to end at SC 5 (now US 21). Note the eastern half of this extension was proposed construction.
In 1947, SC 226 was downgraded to S-20-20 west of SC 200. East of SC 200 this became S-20-42 (now this is S-20-20, S-20-492, S-20-71, cut off by I-77, and . They never did build the eastern half of the proposed road to today's US 21.
