Creation: SC 430 appeared in 1939 as new primary routing, running from US 25 Edgefield north to SC 43 (now US 378).
Adjustments: In 1940, SC 430 was extended north as new primary routing to the Saluda County line. Also, SC 430 was extended south with US 25 and US 25 ALT through Edgefield, then as new primary routing to end at today's S-19-391.
In 1942, SC 430 was extended north as new priary routing to end at SC 241 (now S-24-30) just inside Greenwood County. Also, SC 430 was extended south as new primary routing to US 25 just inside Aiken County.
In 1947, SC 430 north was truncated to SC 43. North to SC 241 was downgraded to S-19-24, S-41-38, and S-24-32 (now S-24-62). SC 430 south was truncated to US 25 north of downtown Edgefield, then replaced SC 430 ALT east to SC 23. The old route south remained US 25, US 25 ALT (now S-19-34), S-19-22 (now S-19-34), S-19-34, and S-2-36.

Improvements: SC 430's current routing was paved in 1941; no multilane segments
Comment: The US 25 to SC 23 piece may have been briefly posted as SC 430 ALT in the 1980's, but I have no maps currently that show this.
