US 221 Bus: Appeared about 1969 when US 221 was placed on its bypass of Greenwood. US 221 Business was added to US 25-178 Business from the south which was not US 221's routing. From Greenwood estward US 221 Business was a replacement for US 221.
By 1988, US 221 Business was no longer posted in the field, though county maps up through at least 2005 showed it. The current county map does not show it.
US 25-178 Bus remains and the part east out of Greenwood remains SC 72 Business. The short cutoff between US 221 and US 25-178 Business became S-24-33.
