US 701 Bus #4: Appeared in July 1966 (AASHO) as renumbering of US 701 through Mt. Pleasant SC. US 17-701 was placed on a new bypass north of town.
In June 1992 (AASHTO), US 17-701 Business was replaced by an extended SC 703 and the new I-526 Business. This was part of the same application package that truncated US 701 to Georgetown.
By the 1980s, US 701 Business was poorly posted. Notably, the 1966 BGS on US 17-701 NB leaving the Cooper River Bridge approaching the interchange with US 17-701 Business had only US 17 Business on it (while US 17-701 was on the other BGS).
