Creation: Appeared in 1949 or 1950 running from TN 33 near Halls Crossroads to US 25E (now Old 25) Thornhill.
Adjustments: In 1981, TN 131 north was truncated to the new routing of US 25E. In 1983, TN 131 was extended southwest to US 11-70 Farragut.
In 1995 or 1996, TN 131 was extended northeast to TN 31 Treadway.
Between 2003-06, TN 131 was rerouted at Ball Camp, replacing a bit of TN 169 and leaving behnd Rehberg Ln.
In 2014, TN 131 was removed from Emory Rd through Powell and placed on newly constructed routing.
In 2020 or so, TN 131 was rerouted at US 25E to create a short overlay. The previous approaches from both directions were destroyed.
