TN 29A #1: Appeared in 1931 or 1932 as new routing from US 27 (now TN 328) west to Oakdale.
In 1963 or 1964, TN 29A was redesignated as TN 29A Spur. Today it is part of TN 299 and Camp Austin Rd to the old Emory River crossing across from Main St. Official maps showed but not labeled this route until 1940. TN 29A #3: Appeared in 1963 or 1964 as a renumbering of US 27 from Harriman via the Oakdale area to the new US 27 routing. In 1983, TN 29A was renumbered as TN 328.
TN 29A #2: Appeared about 1961, replacing TN 29 through Dayton. The 1962 route log had TN 29 Byp on the Dayton bypass but I have seen no map show this. In 1983, TN 29A #2 became TN 378.
