In 2007, TN 386 east was extended as new freeway to TN 174, then paired with TN 174 to end at TN 109.

TN 386 is a full freeway west of TN 174 and is named Vietnam Veterans Blvd.
TDOT has studied extending TN 386 around the north of Gallatin to US 31E northeast of the city. One option used TN 109 for some of it.
