Total Length: 21.5 miles
ROUTE LOG
WV 12: 0 - 0
US 219 NB: 11.6 - 11.6
US 219 SB: 4.1 - 15.7
US 60: 5.8 - 21.5
Creation: WV 63 was designated in 1933 as new primary routing, with the same endpoints as today. This is the 2nd WV 63.
Adjustments: Between 1950-65, WV 63 was rerouted in Ronceverte to follow US 219 south to Organ Cave, then north replacing CR 41 to get to US 60. The old way from US 219 northeast became CR 41 in a route swap.
Improvements: WV 63 was paved upon inception on its US 219 overlay only;
By 1946, WV 63 was paved from Fort Spring to Ronceverte
By 1956, WV 63 was paved from Alderson to Fort Spring
WV 63 wasn't paved from US 219 to US 60 until after 1956
No multilane segments
Comment: Just before US 60 there is a one-lane rarilroad underpass with a clearance of only 9 ft 9 in, with a one-lane wooden bridge over a creek immediately following it. Despite this, there is no posted WV 63 TRUCK, and no indication from US 60 that trucks should not go that way.
