Creation: Designated by 1980 as a new crossing of the Ohio River in eastern Huntington to connect with US 60 (now WV 101) at 8th Ave. This is the only WV 106.
Adjustments: When constructed in 1985, WV 106 was only assigned to the bridge (built further west) and ended at WV 2, while US 60 was eventually rerouted to use 31st St.
Improvements: Upon designation, WV 106 was fully paved; WV 106 has no mutilane segments.
Comment: WV 106 is not posted. Except for once when it was under construction. Otherwise it is just posted as TO OH 7.
