I-195 appeared in May 2003 when NCDOT requested from AASHTO the creation of this designation as a beltway around Fayetteville from Eastover via Fort Bragg to the Hope Mill area. AASHTO rejected the request for reasons unrelated to the number itself.
By the time North Carolina got approval for this corridor in May 2005, it had been renumbered as I-295. Per Interstate Guide.com, this freeway was opened from US 401 to River Rd in June 2003. There were street blade signs at River Rd indicating the freeway was future I-195. |
