NC 260 becomes NC 93

In 1977, NC 93 was rerouted at Piney Creek to its current routing, replacing SR 1350. The old path became SR 1316 and more NC 113.

The first NC 93 appeared in 1929 as new primary routing, running from NC 90 (now US 64 Bus) Pittsboro via SR 1516 "Old 87 Hwy"; Mt Olive Church Rd; "Old 93"; modern NC 87; Whitney Rd; Moores Chapel Cemetary Rd and modern NC 87 to end at NC 10-62 (now NC 49-87) Graham.
In 1933, NC 93 was extended west as new routing from Graham to end at US 70/NC 10 west of Burlington.
Around 1935 or 1936, NC 93 was rerouted onto today's NC 87 routing between Pittsboro and Graham.
In 1940, NC 93 was renumbered as NC 87 from Pittsboro to Graham and part of NC 54 from Graham to US 70.
"Old 87 Hwy" was never part of NC 87.

NC 87 replaces NC 93

The second NC 93 appeared very briefly during 1940. It replaced a bit of NC 24 running from US 1-15-501 Tramway east to US 421/NC 87 (now just Lee Ave) Jonesboro.
In late 1940 NC 93 was needed at the Virginia line so NC 93 was renumbered as NC 78.
