The Road: Begins at US 220 Bus Mayodan and ends at US 311/NC 770 Eden, all within Rockingham County
Towns and Attractions: Rockingham Co: Mayodan, Eden
History: NC 135 was born in 1967 as an upgrade to SR 2138, running about the way it does now.
In 2000, NC 135 east was slightly truncated to the rerouted NC 770 on the Eden Perimeter Rd.
In Sept 2003 (NCDOT), US 311 was added to all of NC 135 east of the US 220 freeway. Could this lead to big truncation of NC 135?

The 1st NC 135 was probably a typo turned into a legal state highway. In May 1967 (NCDOT), the number 135 was assigned to replace SR 1154 from US 64 south to Georgia in Clay County.
29 days later, NC 135 was renumbered in official documentation as NC 175. I seriously doubt this was posted as 135.

Comment: NC 135 is a lovely ride but doesn't NC 770 capture the movement already?
US 311 was not posted on NC 135 until 2011.
