The road:
NC 268-A: Born 1940 as a renumbering of NC 268. Ran as a cutoff between NC 18 and NC 268 in Fairplains. It is shown explicitly on Wilkes County maps up through the 2008 issue.
I have not been to this location but Google street view shows it posted from NC 18 SB as NC 268 EAST while from NC 268 it is posted as NC 18 NORTH.
