NC 303 #1: An original state highway that ran from NC 30 (now US 17) in Pollocksville west through Trenton and Phillips before ending at NC 10-NC 11 Kinston (today's US 70 Bus and NC 11-55).
In 1925, this NC 303 was renumbered as a southern extension of the original NC 12. Today this NC 303 is part of NC 58.

NC 303 #2: Appeared in 1930 as new primary routing, running from NC 30 (now US 17) Winnabow southeast to end at NC 130 (now NC 211) Southport.
In 1952, NC 303 was renumbered as an extended NC 87, which it remains today.
